Crop & export assets

If you need an asset in a particular aspect ratio, file size or format, you can do basic edits inside Tagbox rather than downloading it, opening another tool, and uploading the result back.

Image export is available for all supported image formats, except svg:

avif, bmp, eps, gif, heic, heif, ico, jfif, jpeg, jpg, mpeg, mpg, png, tif, tiff, webp.

Crop: you can set popular aspect ratios or do a freeform crop. Modify manually by dragging the crop area on the photo. You can also manually set the crop dimensions for a more precise result.

Resize: regardless of your cropping, you can resize your image in percentages. For example, if your image is 600x600, then a 50% resize will result in a 300x300 output image.

Quality: resizing makes a file smaller by changing the image’s dimensions. Lowering the quality makes it smaller while keeping the same dimensions - push it too far and the image starts to look rough.

Format: we currently support three output formats: png, jpeg, and webp. Each format optimizes different types of assets: while png is usually more effective for graphics, jpeg is typically more effective for photos. Webp is often more efficient in both cases, although as a newer format it isn’t as widely supported.

To make your work easier, you can see the size of your output before downloading it. This will change dynamically based on the above parameters.

You don’t need an editor to pull a usable clip out of a longer video. Set the start and end points on the video and export just that section - handy for lifting a product shot out of a long b-roll, or cutting a social clip from a full interview.

If you’re looking for the right moment to cut from, the video timeline marks where people, spoken phrases and tagged products appear, so you can find the section before you trim it.

A trimmed section can also be exported as a GIF, which is usually what you want for a short loop in an email, a landing page, or a chat message.
